The project’s objective is to create a new, digitally cloned in vitro system for emulating the prenatal conditions in the vicinity of the uterine/placental interface, capable of future high bio-fidelity prediction of safety and risk of substances towards unborn babies.

5 things that the Lifesaver project wants to achieve:

1. It wants to provide new opportunities for safer environmental chemical exposure and for pharmaceutical development in women’s health.

2. It wants to represent a verifiable, quantified ‘quantum leap’ in bio-digital twin technology that goes beyond any in vitro system.

3. It wants to reduce or even eliminate future animal testing.

4. It wants to decrease the time and costs for LEDO and the needs for clinical trials involving pregnant women.

5. It wants to address unknown issues of vertical transmission of nanoparticles like pollutants.
