The Malta Innovation Hub has been created with the following specific objectives:

  • To provide Business Development Support;
  • To represent a Focal Point in Malta;
  • To strengthen and enhance Business and Research Networking;
  • To Support Open Innovation;
  • To Promote Smart Specialisation;
  • To Assist in the Internationalisation.

Equipped with innovation technologies for cooperation and knowledge sharing, the facilities available at the Malta Innovation Hub are further backed up by a raft of attractive support measures by Malta Enterprise to assist companies in Research and Development activities. All this makes Malta an attractive option for investors in the sector.

Malta Innovation Hub was set up as part of the ENISIE Project which supports micro-small and medium enterprises with a social vocation to maintain the balance between “business” and “social” through open innovation and design thinking tools. ENISIE is funded by the Interreg V-A Italia-Malta Program 2014-2020.

The Malta Life Sciences Park was conceived by the country’s economic development agency, Malta Enterprise, to provide an international class facility for life sciences and information technology development. The Malta Life Sciences Park is designed to promote research and development and to spur the growth of the life sciences sector in Malta, building on the base that the country developed in the pharmaceutical industry during the last decade.

Co-financed through the European Regional Development Funds, the Malta Life Sciences Park is divided into two main components: the Malta Life Sciences Centre and the Malta Digital Hub. In total, there are currently 13,500sqm of space comprising laboratories, offices, a seminar room, meeting rooms, Malta Innovation Hub and various shared facilities.

The Malta Life Sciences Park supports and encourages growth and success among its tenants, offering a stimulating environment for knowledge-intensive companies. Regardless of a company’s size or stage of development, the Malta Life Sciences Park offers access to experienced and professional business and financial advice, as well as assistance for internationalization. A well-balanced combination of entrepreneurial and industrial competence is essential for the growth and development of every company, and at the Malta Life Sciences Park there are no limits on a company’s opportunity to continually improve, develop and grow.
